Following the, surprising, decision to part company with Danny Ellis the Guiseley AFC Supporters' Club committee has sent an open letter to the Board of Directors at the club. Take a look below.
To: Guiseley AFC Board of Directors
We the Supporters' Club committee on behalf of our members would like to express our shock and disappointment with last week's decision to part company with Danny Ellis from the position of First Team Manager. As a committee we fail to understand the rationale behind the decision, as there has been no pressure from fans. Danny was a first time manager and therefore it is expected that there will be mistakes, and therefore he should at least have been given a season.
Though there has been a number of players signed and released there appeared to be a making of a team when everyone was fit and playing. This was evident during our seven match unbeaten run up to Macclesfield, before five enforced changes for the Warrington league game. The run of three defeats was not great but the goals conceded against Warrington and Ashton were mistakes.
However, in the trophy game Danny nullified the two threats of Warrington that they had in the league game, and despite the controversy that day we thoroughly deserved the victory and that is why the decision to dispense with Danny was a shock.
Going forward it would be good to have more engagement with the fans. Danny and the team had done a great job of doing that, especially at away games where the come across and interact with us fans. It would be good if the directors could provide some better communication, or interaction, with the fans as to what the objectives are for each season, and what the long term goal for the club is.
Most of us fans will continue to get behind the team, however the way Danny was released will take some time for many to forget.
