We are deeply saddened to hear of John Bridson's passing after a strong, brave and resilient battle.
John was aged 68 on his passing on 24th June 2023 and was a proud Committee Member since our formation in 2010, our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this desperately sad time.
His son Adam also serves as a Committee Member and John made sure to bring him to meetings from the start as they were both keen to help support the club and its supporters.
John would always be on hand to help out at events or with the running of the Supporters' Club and most recently took on the role of our bookkeeper ensuring everything was correct financially and that funds were available as and when needed.
We will greatly miss his personality, charm and wit but most of all his illuminating smile which lit up everywhere he went.
John was born in Liverpool on 10th June 1955 and was a proud Evertonian before making the move to Leeds in the 1980s, he continued supporting his beloved Toffees but Guiseley got a share of his heart in the 90s and this never left him until the present day. If anything his love for the club only grew as he would always be on hand to help out whenever needed and very rarely missed matches both home and away.
He was a regular on our coaches to away games and enjoyed nothing more than an awayday on the road with his son Adam and other family members who he often encouraged to come along for the day out.
Chair person of the Supporters' Club, Bill Tait, said: "John has been a stalwart of the club as a volunteer (stewarding of the tunnel with his son Adam), travelling supporter and Supporters' Club Committee Member."
"Win, lose or draw, John’s dedication and love of the club never wavered and his cheery disposition was a joy to all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. He will be greatly missed."
Our thoughts are with John’s wife Lynn, sons David and Adam and daughter Joanne as well as all his family and friends.
